Aircraft Taxiing

 

The ECAA draws the attention of aircraft maintenance engineers, aviation clubs and institutes, operating companies to the following instructions regarding the requirements concerning aircraft taxiing.

 

EAC91-7.1 For aircraft with max take-off weight less than 5700 Kg:

(a) It is prohibited for all aircraft maintenance engineers to perform helicopter taxiing regardless of their qualifications.

(b) Regarding fixed wing aircraft:

 The aircraft maintenance engineer is required to complete the following requirements:

(1) Pass the medical examination of the private pilot level.

(2) Hold a valid aircraft maintenance engineer of same type category "A".

(3) Have experience on the same aircraft type and be nominated by his  related department.

(4) Be well trained (theoretically and practically) under the supervision of an approved instructor pilot.

 

ECAA will then issue an aircraft taxiing approval for the maintenance engineer if he completes satisfactorily the above items (no. 1 through 4).

 

EAC91-7.1 For aircraft of max. Take-off weight above 5700 Kg:

It is prohibited for all aircraft maintenance engineers regardless of their qualification to perform aircraft taxing for any reason. Aircraft should only be taxied by licensed pilots qualified on the same type, otherwise they should be towed using appropriate towing equipment and procedures.
